Whether your a runner or cyclist, you do not want to miss this event.
It’s been called the “ugliest race in the world.” And that is such an awesome thing. The Land Run 100 started in 2013 and has quickly grown into one of the premiere events in the United States.
A number of years ago the District Bicycles cyclists discovered that the rural roads surrounding Stillwater, Oklahoma offered “virtually limitless potential for gravel cycling.” The first Land Run featured 107 miles of red, rutted roads with over 6000 ft. of climbing. They had 121 riders the first year. They soon added a running event, and a 50 mile ride as well. Today they have over 1,000 entrants in the annual event, with registration selling out in less than 25 hours.
Next year’s event will be March 16, 2019, and registration opens this fall. I’m already working on getting my wife to let me sign up. If you aren’t convinced this will be an awesome event, take a look at this video by Salsa Cycles.
