It gets lonely out there when you are on the road, living an alternative life style, in your boat, van, camper, etc. Getting together with off off-griders would be worth a detour and probably boost your morale and passion for the life you have chosen. This is why the #vanlife event in Asheville has grown so fast over the last few years. Scheduled this year for September 28th at the Wedge at Foundation, the event invites vanlifers, vendors and spectators to enjoy live music, beer, art, and adventure from 4pm – 10pm. Admission is free (donations are welcome and will go to the Asheville Habitat for Humanity) and all vehicles and vendors must reserve a spot to participate.
The Asheville Vanlife Rally is coveted by the vanlife community because it is an opportunity for like-minded adventurers to share stories, exchange ideas and spend time together. The event is not restricted to just those traveling in a van and all other mobile adventurers are welcome in whatever they drive, be it motorcycle, truck, or station wagon.
The van life event also serves as a great opening for a weekend of adventure fun in Asheville in September. The 2017 Overland Expo East is being held at the Biltmore Estate from September 29 – October 1, 2017. In addition to vendors and exhibits, the event boasts classes on using your adventure vehicle, exclusive use of the Land Rover Overland, hands-on experience with expedition skills, instructional classes about the latest technologies, gear, packing, maintenance, navigation and more, all at basic and advanced levels. The full tuition package also includes complimentary happy hour beverages, banquets tickets and tickets for a self-guided tour of the Biltmore House (which is a must-see if you haven’t already).
